Google Play Security App Flooded My Android Phone With Ads

I downloaded a free virus scanning and cleaning application from the Google Play Store on my Android phone. I do not remember the exact name of the app, but it was something similar to “Clean2026.” Immediately after installing the application, my phone started displaying pop-up advertisements that opened on their own, could not be closed, and completely covered the screen. As a result, my device became almost unusable.

Even after I normally uninstalled the application from my phone, the advertising problem continued. I had to restart my phone several times, but the issue was not resolved. I eventually had to start the phone in Safe Mode, which allowed me to completely remove the application. However, I am still not certain whether my phone has actually been fully cleaned or whether any unwanted software or components remain.

Because I am concerned about the security of my phone, I deliberately did not log into my mobile banking or other critical applications. I am seriously concerned that my passwords or personal data may have been stolen. I will also separately check my bank accounts and other accounts for any suspicious activity.

I request that the harm I experienced due to this type of purported security application available on the Google Play Store be investigated, and that similar applications containing malicious behavior or aggressive advertising be properly reviewed and removed if necessary. I also request information about the precautions I should take to protect my personal data and account security, as well as appropriate action regarding the harm and security concerns I experienced.
