Turkish Airlines Flight Booking Issue and Extra Charges
On October 6, 2023, we called THY customer service to book a round-trip flight from Istanbul to Serbia for two people. During the call, the representative inexplicably hung up on us. We then decided to book our tickets directly from the THY website. While booking, we did not see any mention of needing a passport; we registered using our Turkish ID. After booking, we called customer service for confirmation and were told that passport information was required. We were informed that we would either have to pay an additional ₺4,000 per person or lose the total ticket cost of over ₺11,000. To avoid losing our money, we paid the extra ₺4,000 per person, making the total cost per ticket ₺9,000 instead of the original ₺5,500. This feels like we were forced to pay extra. We are extremely dissatisfied with THY's handling of this situation. Not only did the customer service representative hang up on us initially, but we also did not find any passport requirement on the website while booking. We demand a refund of the extra amount we paid.
