Turkish Airlines Charged Extra Money For Excess Baggage
I encountered a baffling situation with Turkish Airlines during my father's trip from Antalya to Bishkek. Our journey involved two separate flights: the first from Antalya to Istanbul, and the second from Istanbul to Bishkek. These flights were not connected and were booked at different times.
The domestic baggage allowance was 25 kg, while for the Bishkek flight, it was 30 kg. Armed with two suitcases weighing 18 kg and 17 kg, respectively, we headed to Antalya Airport. At the check-in counter, we handed over the first suitcase, weighing 18 kg. When we placed the second suitcase, weighing 17 kg, on the scale, the staff informed us of potential extra charges. Despite explaining our business class connection to Bishkek (with a baggage allowance of 30 kg), the staff decided not to send the second suitcase, connecting the flights without extra charges.
However, upon reaching Istanbul, confusion ensued. The staff claimed our total baggage weight was 40 kg and demanded an additional payment of ₺2280, which my father paid in cash since he couldn't use his card. Despite numerous attempts to resolve the issue through emails and phone calls, the airline remains unresponsive. They insist that they haven't overcharged us, disregarding our repeated explanations about the actual weight of our 35 kg baggage. The matter remains unresolved, and it seems like they are either reluctant to refund the unjustly taken money or waiting for us to give up.
