Turkish Airlines Blocked My Disabled Companion: Need Ticket Refund
I would like to submit a complaint against Turkish Airlines because, despite meeting all legal and medical requirements, we were unable to have an accompanying person designated for my mother, forcing us to postpone our Paris–Istanbul round trip scheduled for today and incurring higher ticket prices as a result. My mother is a citizen of the Republic of Turkey, classified by the relevant Ministry as at least 80% disabled, receives the disability discount, and her official documents and cards clearly state that she requires an accompanying person; I, also a Turkish citizen, am listed in her official documents as her accompanying person and have been trying to manage this process. Despite repeatedly requesting this designation before purchasing tickets, Turkish Airlines persistently refused to perform the companion designation, leaving us dealing with this process for four days through calls to the customer center, feedback forms, and contacts with the sales office—only to receive standardized, copy-pasted responses completely unrelated to our situation rather than a specific explanation. Receiving such generic and irrelevant answers for a Turkish citizen passenger whose disability rate and need for an accompanying person are fully documented by the Ministry, along with her designated companion, frankly makes us feel as though we are being mocked. Because the companion designation was not processed, we had to postpone today’s travel, resulting in increased ticket prices and financial loss; therefore, I demand that an accompanying person be designated for my mother immediately in line with her Ministry-certified needs, that our additional costs resulting from the postponement and price increase be reimbursed, and that we receive a clear, personalized explanation regarding why we were so persistently obstructed throughout this process, rather than standard boilerplate text.
