Allianz Auto Renewal Dispute: Refuse Unauthorized Policy Cancellation Fee

1

I would like to share an issue that consumers should be aware of, especially during the insurance renewal period. Last year, I purchased home insurance from Allianz. I had previously authorized automatic renewal/payment, but I cancelled this instruction before the policy expired because I was considering changing my insurance company. Despite this, two separate Premium Package insurance policies were issued in my name without my knowledge or explicit consent. One was for TRY 20,093.15 and the other for TRY 27,526.83, totaling TRY 47,619.98, which was charged to my Yapı Kredi credit card. As soon as I noticed this, I immediately contacted Allianz and disputed the charges. The principal amounts were subsequently refunded. However, Allianz is now charging me more than TRY 700 for an alleged 8-day “use” of the policies. I do not accept this charge. Because: • I had cancelled the automatic renewal instruction in time. • I did not authorize the issuance of new policies. • I discovered the two policies myself and immediately objected. • I did not make any claim, receive any payment, or use any insurance service. • The principal amounts have already been refunded. I am asking Allianz to provide clear and documented answers: Why were two separate policies issued? What transaction and consent authorized them? Where are the records showing my explicit approval? Why were the policies issued despite my cancellation of the automatic renewal instruction? What exact dates does the alleged “8-day use” cover? How was the amount calculated, and which policy provision and legal basis justify this charge? If Allianz believes this charge is justified, I expect a clear, documented explanation. My request is straightforward: the additional charge of more than TRY 700 should be cancelled and removed from my credit card account, and Allianz should provide documentary evidence explaining how and with what authorization these two policies were issued. I am sharing this particularly to raise awareness during the insurance renewal period. Consumers should check their automatic renewal instructions, insurance policies, and credit card transactions carefully. Anyone experiencing a similar situation should investigate their consumer rights and request written documentation from their insurer.
