THY Overbooked Flight and Charged Me Extra for a New Ticket
Hello, my mother and I arrived for the 13:40 Bodrum Milas flight at 12:00 for check-in. When our tickets were handed over, we were informed that extra tickets were sold, my mother was put on standby, and I was assigned a seat. They told us to go to gate G5A and wait, but they did not inform us to check the flight number on the screens as the gate might change. When we waited at the gate, the Turkish Airlines staff there told us that all flights were full and my mother could not come today, only I could fly on the current flight. This was unacceptable, so we suggested swapping tickets with my mother. Our new ticket was issued for Dalaman instead of Bodrum, and since there is no transportation to Turgutreis where we needed to go, and on top of that, we were charged the ticket difference, we are aggrieved. The ticket difference is ₺5900, and the journey still seems uncertain as we do not know how to handle it, but the companies we talked to mentioned at least ₺7500. I already had to pay extra for a ticket to land at an airport 240 km away just because you overbooked, which is a significant grievance. I demand compensation for my economic loss and the additional costs I will have to pay from my vacation money, considering the delay in the reimbursement I will receive.
