There Were Missing Items In My Baggage With the Flight From Turkish Airlines and They Delayed Compensation
On December 1, 2023, I was on Turkish Airlines flight TK7273 from Gaziantep to Sabiha Gokcen Airport, scheduled to depart at 22:05. After a one-hour delay, I retrieved my baggage from the carousel only to find the zippers fully open. Approximately ₺10,000 worth of items were missing from my luggage. I had arranged my baggage at the check-in counter in Gaziantep, so I know the contents were captured on camera. I believe that reviewing the footage will clearly show that the items went missing after being handed over to Turkish Airlines. Despite providing receipts for the missing items, Turkish Airlines denied my compensation claim. After my appeal, they offered ₺2,500, which I accepted to avoid further hassle. However, the payment, promised within 6-10 days, has not been made even though the deadline has passed. Despite requesting to be contacted by an authorized person, I have not received a single call and only standard rejection responses. My grievances and phone calls have not resolved my issue. The proposed amount has not been paid despite the significant delay and my repeated follow-ups. Additionally, I wanted to carry this baggage into the cabin, but was told it needed to be checked due to liquids inside, and was not informed about the need to carry valuable items with me. As a frequent domestic and international traveler, I am now questioning the value Turkish Airlines places on its passengers. Given the current inflation and interest rate environment, my loss increases with each passing day. This issue remains unresolved by the company and only results in wasted time.
