I Missed Turkish Airlines Connection Despite Arriving at Gate on Time
On Sunday, August 27th, I had a flight from Izmir to New York with a layover in Istanbul. My flight from Izmir to Istanbul departed 25 minutes late, and after a 30-minute taxiing delay at Istanbul Airport, the delay extended to 1 hour. Despite requesting a car for a quick transfer, no car was provided, and I was told ground services would pick me up at the exit, but no one was there. Although I ran and arrived at the gate 20 minutes before the departure of my connecting flight, they did not wait for me even for a minute. Another passenger was in the same situation. Despite the New York flight being aware of our delay, they did not wait even for a second. Airlines are required to wait in case of delays caused by the airline itself for connecting flights. Accommodation was provided, but the desk officer was very rude and mentioned breakfast as if it was a favor. I ran around from place to place at 2:30 AM, ruining both my night and the following day. I missed the first day of my school and my course selections. I request compensation for my inconvenience.
