I Missed My Flight Due to Information Gap in the System of Turkish Airlines
On 11.11.2023, for our Istanbul-Dakar flight TK0501, a visa was requested at the gate for my children and we were not allowed to board. I am a Turkish citizen and do not require a visa; however, my children are Azerbaijani citizens and need a visa, but it is not required for those under 15 years old. This information was not visible in the Turkish Airlines system, so approval from Dakar was needed. Because the approval came late, we missed the flight. We had to wait overnight at the airport with a 9-month-old baby and a 7-year-old child. We bought tickets for the next day and were able to fly after receiving the approval. However, we are not responsible for this situation; due to the missing information in the Turkish Airlines system, we suffered and had to pay an extra ₺43,000. No one is taking responsibility for this issue. I am filing a complaint about this matter. Additionally, the visa supervisor displayed a mocking attitude and said, 'No one will pay you without approval.' However, I took my evening flight and am now in Dakar.
