I Experienced Significant Inconvenience Due To 12-Hour Delay and Lack of Organization of Turkish Airlines

On October 1, 2023, my 20:20 Turkish Airlines flight from Istanbul to London was delayed by 12 hours. I was informed about the delay, which would push my flight to the next morning, only when I arrived at the airport, 3 hours before the scheduled departure. When I contacted the Turkish Airlines office at the airport regarding my right to delay compensation, I was told that I needed to submit written feedback. My written feedback to Turkish Airlines was met with a negative response.

I was directed to another office to arrange accommodation for the night, where I waited in line for 4 hours. During this time, not even water was provided, let alone food or beverages. By the time I reached the hotel, I had only about 1 hour to sleep due to these delays. Despite this long and challenging delay and lack of organization, no apology or compensation was offered at any stage of the process.

Unsatisfied with the response to my initial feedback, I submitted a second feedback to Turkish Airlines and have yet to receive a response, even after several days. In addition to the challenging experience at the airport, this half-day delay resulted in the loss of a full workday, causing issues with my employer. I believe that an international company like Turkish Airlines should adhere to international standards and strive to compensate for such inconveniences, rather than dismissing them.
