Pegasus Airlines Denied My Check In for My Flight Despite Valid Tickets
On April 1, 2025, my wife, son, and I attempted to check in for our Dubai-Istanbul flight with PNR code C1EGJE and ticket numbers 6242246369074, 6242246369075, and 6242246369077. We were told that we could not be ticketed due to a lack of available seats and were asked to wait. While waiting, we noticed there were more than 20 other passengers experiencing the same issue. When we insisted on an explanation, a person who identified themselves as a Pegasus representative said that they had oversold tickets and that we might be able to board if some of the ticketed passengers didn’t show up. When we asked for a clearer explanation—especially about what would happen if we were denied boarding—and despite behaving respectfully, the Pegasus representative threatened to call the police and have us removed from the airport. Later, we saw that a group of passengers with connecting flights was able to secure seats by paying an unusually high fee through the online check-in system. An hour before departure, we learned there were actually enough seats. We couldn't understand whether this issue arose from an attempt to sell extra seats or some other undisclosed reason. Although we had arrived early to do some duty-free shopping, we had to rush through passport control to avoid missing the flight and couldn’t shop. Once onboard, we also didn’t receive the sandwiches we had paid for in advance. I can’t believe Pegasus would subject its customers to such distress just to sell extra seat upgrades. I request a refund for the sandwiches I paid for but did not receive.
