I purchased the New Balance XC-72 model about 1.5 years ago, and despite wearing them no more than 10 times, the shoes have developed large tears on both sides. The first tear appeared on the left side, which I had repaired at my own expense. But now the same issue has occurred on the right side, which clearly points to a defect in the material or construction—not normal wear and tear.
This is incredibly frustrating, especially since I chose New Balance for its reputation for quality and durability. I haven’t used the shoes heavily, and this kind of damage should not be happening with light, occasional use.
To make matters worse, I’ve been unable to reach New Balance customer service, and I haven’t had the time to visit a physical store. That doesn’t mean my concern should be ignored. I am officially requesting a product replacement and a proper resolution.
