Unfairly Charged Yapı Kredi Annual Credit Card Fee
I am a long-term and active customer of Yapı Kredi Bank and I use a World credit card. Although it was previously stated that no annual card fee would be charged provided that I met the one‑year usage condition, an annual membership fee of 1,420 TL was reflected on my credit card statement dated 10.05.2026. On 10.05.2026, I contacted your customer service regarding this issue. During the call, I was informed that the relevant amount would be collected via my World points. However, the points I had previously accumulated were deleted and negative points were reflected on my account. In other words, not only was an annual card fee charged despite the one‑year usage commitment, but also my existing World points were removed and my balance was reduced to a negative level. I find this situation clearly incompatible with the principles of customer satisfaction. Pursuant to the unfair contract terms provisions under the Consumer Protection Law No. 4077, as amended by Law No. 4822, I consider the annual card fee charged without any corresponding service to be unfair, and I also state that the relevant contractual condition was prepared unilaterally without negotiation with the consumer. Accordingly, I request the cancellation and refund of the annual card fee amounting to 1,420 TL reflected on my 10.05.2026 statement, together with the reversal of the related negative World points transaction and restoration of my points. Otherwise, I state that I will terminate not only my credit card, but also all my banking relationships and accounts with Yapı Kredi Bank, and that I will exercise all my legal rights, including applying to the Consumer Arbitration Committee.
