In June 2024, I purchased a Lexus UX 300e electric vehicle from the Lexus Çankaya Ankara dealership, paying approximately $56,000 USD. My vehicle is equipped with a CHAdeMO DC fast-charging port, but no charging stations in Türkiye support this connector type. As a result, I cannot use fast charging at all, which has effectively made the vehicle impractical and unusable for daily life.
At the time of sale, I was not adequately informed that the vehicle might be incompatible with Türkiye’s charging infrastructure, nor that CHAdeMO connectors are almost nonexistent in the country. Despite Lexus Türkiye’s official website stating that its electric vehicles are “easy to charge,” I am experiencing firsthand that this is not true in practice. I believe that only a very small number of these vehicles were brought into Türkiye, and that they were likely sold by taking advantage of regulatory or technical gaps, without proper consumer disclosure.
I have contacted Lexus Türkiye multiple times regarding this issue, but no concrete solution has been offered. The responses I received gave me the impression that they lack sufficient technical knowledge even about the electric vehicle they themselves imported. I was merely told that I should find an original CHAdeMO-compatible charging device, yet when I personally contacted charging station operators across Türkiye, none of them even recognized or supported this connector type. I cannot accept that a premium brand would leave its customer in such a situation.
My primary expectation is that a technical solution be developed to make my vehicle compatible with Türkiye’s existing fast-charging infrastructure, allowing me to use the car properly and without limitations. If this is not possible, I request that the vehicle be taken back and that the full amount I paid be refunded. I ask that my grievance be addressed urgently and taken seriously.
