Hotels.com Cancels Paid Reservation and Relists Room at Higher Price
I made a fully prepaid reservation through Hotels.com at Guangzhou Guangyun Hotel, located at 138 Zhongshan Avenue West, Guangzhou, Guangdong, 510000, China. The total cost of the reservation was approximately $700, and I paid the full amount on March 4, 2026.
After the booking was confirmed and paid, it was canceled on the same day, March 4, 2026, without any request or consent from me. Approximately one minute after the cancellation, I noticed that the exact same room at the same hotel was listed again on Hotels.com for around $1,500. In other words, my confirmed and fully prepaid reservation was canceled, and the same room was immediately relisted for nearly double the price.
I contacted Hotels.com customer service multiple times and explained the situation to several different representatives. Despite my clear explanation and the obvious unfairness of the situation, no resolution was provided, and the case was eventually closed without my approval or satisfaction. As a result, I suffered financial loss and was treated in a manner I consider clearly unfair.
