I purchased a flight ticket through Gotogate and finalized the payment with a total charge of ₺99,146, which was clearly shown on their checkout page. The payment process appeared standard—my credit card was charged, and the amount displayed was in line with what I expected. However, once the transaction cleared from pending status and reflected on my account, I noticed a shocking charge of ₺105,200.
When I contacted Gotogate, they insisted that their system had only processed the original ₺99,146 and claimed the issue didn’t originate from them. The invoice they sent me also showed the same lower amount.
I then reached out to QNB Finansbank, who explained the discrepancy was due to the payment being processed using a high USD exchange rate—around ₺40.15 per $1, despite the actual market exchange rate at that time being ₺38.85. This rate difference led to an unauthorized overcharge of over ₺6,000.
I demand a refund for the excess amount charged. I gave explicit approval to be charged ₺99,146—not a cent more. If currency conversion or payment method fees were to cause such a spike, I should have been clearly warned upfront. Gotogate and the bank need to take accountability. I expect the overcharged amount to be refunded immediately and a transparent explanation for why this happened.
