I canceled the first leg of my connecting flight booked through Gotogate because I realized I wouldn’t be able to make the international connection on time. During the cancellation process, I was told that a refund of 56€ would be issued to my account. However, 14 days have passed, and I still haven’t received a single cent.
When I contacted Gotogate, I was informed that the refund would not be processed because of a so-called “service fee” of ₺1,342 per passenger. They claimed the refund amount fell below this fee, so I wasn’t entitled to receive anything back. What’s worse is that none of this was disclosed during the cancellation process. No warning about any deduction, no agreement on my part—just a promise of a 56€ refund that never came.
I completed the cancellation well within the 24-hour window and acted in good faith based on the information given. Gotogate’s after-the-fact justification feels deceptive and unfair. I will be filing formal complaints with the Consumer Arbitration Board and CİMER. This experience has shown me that Gotogate is not transparent about its refund policies, and I urge others to think twice before booking with them.
