Google Play Refuses Refund for Child’s Unauthorized Game Purchases
On February 11, 12, and 13, I discovered — after receiving the billing statements — that my 4½-year-old son made in-app purchases through Google Play without our knowledge or consent. Although the total amount of the transactions appears as $39, we were not aware of these games, nor are they being played. Even for an adult, spending this much money on unknown games would be highly unusual and unreasonable.
The payments were processed through Paycell, and no confirmation or approval was requested from me before the charges were made. I submitted refund requests through both Google Play and the relevant channels, but my appeals were denied and the charges were not canceled. I am being financially harmed because of transactions clearly made by a small child and obviously in error.
I request that the details of these transactions be reviewed and that the full $39 be refunded for these unused and unauthorized in-app purchases. Otherwise, I will be forced to file a complaint with the Consumer Arbitration Committee.
