With reference number CJT-185238223, I rented a car through the Carjet app from Hit Rent a Car in İzmir. When I arrived to pick up the car, the rental agent continuously changed the conditions and tried to force additional charges on me.
First, they said they would block €900 on my credit card, and I agreed. Then, they suddenly increased it to €2,000, and I still accepted. After that, they claimed they would charge €300 for every scratch, which I also accepted. Finally, they demanded an extra €30 per day, on top of the price already shown in the app.
According to the app, I was supposed to pay €290 for 7 days, but with their extra charges, the total would have been €500. Since these terms were completely different from what was advertised, I refused to take the car. However, because the time spent arguing exceeded the cancellation window, Carjet refused to issue a refund.
Carjet had already taken a €30 commission fee, and despite my repeated messages, they never refunded my money. The same situation actually happened to me last year in Antalya as well — Carjet’s app displays misleadingly low prices, collects its commission upfront, and then their partner companies pressure customers into paying more for old, overpriced cars.
I strongly advise others to avoid renting through Carjet or its partner agencies and instead use reputable, established companies to avoid being overcharged and mistreated.
