I Paid for a Brussels Apartment on Booking.com but Got Canceled Last Minute

I booked a stay through Booking.com at "Un bel appartement dans le centre de Bruxelles", confirmation number 5035****96, and paid in advance. On the very day we were supposed to check in, the host informed us that there was an electrical issue in the apartment and that we could not be accommodated.

Despite already being charged the full amount, I never received a refund. I’ve tried contacting both the property owner and Booking.com’s customer support multiple times, but no one is responding. I sent messages, made calls to both domestic and international support lines, and still—no reply. It feels like I’m being completely ignored.

I trusted Booking.com to guarantee my reservation or at the very least provide proper support in situations like this. Instead, I’ve been left with no place to stay and no refund, and no one willing to take responsibility. I expect Booking.com to immediately process my refund and hold the host accountable for canceling at the last minute without offering any resolution.

This kind of customer neglect is unacceptable. I strongly urge others to double-check hosts and policies—because once things go wrong, you’re on your own.

The facility stated that it could not accept us for our accommodation reservation on June 7 and said that it would provide a full refund. According to a message from Booking on June 15, which is a week after my reservation date, they said they could accept us. How am I supposed to go back to a past date, is this a joke? Are they not refunding my payment so that I can stay at a time they want, not at a time I want? I expect Booking.com to refund me by not making a payment to the facility that does not accept me on the date I want, within the framework of logic.
