I am inclined not to make bookings through Booking.com in Turkey anymore. In my opinion, we should no longer use this service here. I am very upset and disappointed. This week, I will share all that I have experienced with evidence to all relevant authorities. If my damage is not rectified, I will take legal action. Here is what happened:
My reservation number 3118188571 was supposed to total 504 euros.
Booking.com attempted to overcharge me by approximately 250 euros. When I pointed out the error, I was told 2-3 times that the correct sum was 750 euros and that I was mistaken. The hotel insisted that the amount I mentioned was correct. This happened multiple times. Booking.com persistently tried to charge me 750 euros several times, while the hotel insisted that only 500 euros should be charged and that the amount needed correction. I was practically torn between the hotel and Booking.com, spending my vacation dealing with this issue. I exchanged messages with Booking.com and the hotel over 3-4 days.
If I had mentioned the error in the sum at the beginning, the issue might have been resolved two days ago. So, two days ago. Since then, Tom N. has told me that I misunderstood something, and I've been dealing with this issue.
Thinking that this error would not be resolved, I made a new booking at another hotel (Reservation number 4161486060) since Booking.com persistently failed to correct the error for days.
Due to the efforts of the hotel, Booking corrected the amount, but due to the days of the problem, I requested the cancellation of the reservation. Nevertheless, Booking.com demanded the entire booking amount as a penalty, even though the error was on their part.
In the end, unfortunately, I had to cancel the reservation with the lesser penalty. For reservation 4161486060, the penalty was the fee for one night. I know from the hotel's messages that the error completely lies with Booking.com, even though I have to pay the penalty.
The hotel confirmed that the error originates entirely from Booking.com. I do not know what it means to try to demand 750 euros for a service worth 500 euros, but experts can surely define that.
