Booking.com Wrongly Charging €1000 for Cancellation Before Free Deadline

I tried to cancel a reservation on Booking.com before the free cancellation deadline, yet I was wrongly charged €1000! My reservation confirmation and the cancellation policy clearly state that I can cancel for free until March 16. However, today is March 14, and the system is already demanding a €1000 cancellation fee!
How can there be such a huge inconsistency? Booking.com promises free cancellation until March 16, yet when I try to cancel, it suddenly claims my deadline has passed. Why should I be penalized for Booking.com's mistake?
This is not the first time I have encountered such issues with Booking.com. Customers should not be misled and charged unfairly due to flawed policies and misleading information. I demand that this incorrect charge be removed immediately.
