Unable to Cancel or Modify Incorrect Booking Date on Booking.com

I accidentally made a reservation for the wrong and later date through Booking.com. I'm unable to cancel without incurring a fee. I submitted a request for a free cancellation through the system and tried to use my date change option, then contacted the hotel directly. The hotel informed me that free cancellation or date changes wouldn’t be an issue for them, but they haven't received any requests from Booking.com. They mentioned that none of the requests sent through Booking.com reach their system, and Booking.com is not addressing the issue, leaving me in a difficult situation. I couldn't even use my date change option due to their negligence and system problems. The hotel is very accommodating and says they would allow a free cancellation if Booking.com requests it, but they can't do anything on their own. The reservation is for September, so please show some attention to allow for a free cancellation.
