I’ve been an active and responsible BlaBlaCar user for a long time, having completed over 30 rides with a high user rating of 4.8 out of 5. That’s why I was extremely disappointed to find my account blocked without warning, despite always being transparent with passengers and never demanding more than what was agreed upon before the ride.
Due to the soaring fuel prices and increasing transportation costs in Turkey, BlaBlaCar’s maximum fare limits often fall short of covering fuel expenses—especially for longer routes. In some cases, I discussed alternative fare arrangements with passengers before the trip began. These adjustments were mutual agreements, where the passenger voluntarily accepted the terms. I never once requested additional payment after a journey was completed.
There were also instances where passengers asked to be dropped off at locations outside the original route. In such cases, we agreed on an extra fee before the ride, and again, only if the passenger accepted. I’ve even quoted higher prices to discourage unsafe or suspicious ride requests. On the flip side, many passengers have offered to pay above the suggested price on their own initiative to ensure a faster or more comfortable trip.
I want to emphasize: I have never violated any agreement made through the app and never overcharged anyone after a trip. BlaBlaCar’s rigid pricing policy doesn’t reflect the real costs drivers face in Turkey today.
I respectfully request the following:
Immediate review and reactivation of my account
Re-evaluation of BlaBlaCar’s pricing policies to reflect Turkey’s economic conditions
Adjustment of the maximum fare limits in accordance with actual fuel costs and public transport ticket prices for the same distance
BlaBlaCar should focus on creating a fairer and more flexible system for both drivers and passengers instead of punishing responsible users for adapting to local realities.
