Last year around this time, we purchased Bitdefender antivirus software for use within our business environment. The product was deployed across all computers in our organization and has been actively used as our primary endpoint protection solution.

However, we have encountered a serious security issue that raises concerns about the effectiveness of the software. Bitdefender failed to detect and remove malware files distributed through USB devices, particularly malicious files using .lnk (shortcut) and .dat extensions. Despite having Bitdefender installed and updated across our systems, these threats were not identified or blocked.

As a result, the shortcut virus spread throughout our shared network environment and infected multiple locations across our infrastructure. We spent considerable time and resources attempting to resolve the issue while relying on Bitdefender, yet the software was unable to eliminate the infection or provide an effective solution.

Ultimately, we were forced to use Malwarebytes to address the problem. After running Malwarebytes, the malicious files and related infections were successfully detected and removed from our systems. This outcome has led us to question the effectiveness of the Bitdefender protection we purchased for our business.

We are requesting a detailed explanation regarding why Bitdefender failed to detect and remove these malware threats despite being installed throughout our organization. We also expect clarification regarding the product's protection capabilities against USB-borne malware, shortcut viruses, and similar threats.

Depending on the response provided, we may need to reevaluate our current agreement and consider whether continuing our subscription and business relationship is appropriate. We would appreciate a prompt and transparent response addressing these concerns.
