On March 11, 2024, I booked a car rental at the Frankfurt Airport using Lufthansa's website. The reservation was scheduled from March 11th to March 15th, 2024.
Got an email on March 13, 2024, from Lufthansa saying they had to cancel my reservation because their employees went on strike. The email also mentioned that my credit card had been charged for the full amount of the rental.
I was really taken aback and pretty bummed out by this cancellation, 'cause I had made the reservation way ahead of time and nobody had given me a heads-up about any possible strikes. I was also pretty upset when Lufthansa went ahead and charged my credit card for a rental that I didn't even use. Like, seriously?
I reached out to Lufthansa customer service right away and described the situation. I asked for the cancellation to be reversed and for the charge on my credit card to be refunded.
Unfortunately, Lufthansa was unwilling to reverse the cancellation or provide a refund for the charge. They said the cancellation happened because of things they couldn't control and that they weren't to blame for the inconvenience it caused me.
I'm really let down and annoyed by how Lufthansa has dealt with this situation. My reservation got canceled and they're not taking any responsibility for their mistake. It's just not fair. I kindly ask Lufthansa to promptly reinstate my reservation and refund the charge on my credit card.
