Lufthansa Refused To Compensate Canceled Flight

I booked a flight with Lufthansa from Frankfurt to Istanbul, but they canceled it due to a strike. They thought sending an email was enough. After that, no one took care of it. They flew me out the next day. It's been over three weeks since then, and I still don't know if I can get reimbursed for the expenses of the extra day and the compensation I'm entitled to. I couldn't even find that out. They turned to compensate another friend of mine in Germany who was in the same situation.
