In order to purchase a chair I liked on Amazon.com.tr, I converted the miles I had accumulated in my Turkish Airlines Miles&Smiles account into an Amazon gift card as part of a Turkish Airlines promotion. I completed this conversion based on the information provided, which indicated that I would be able to purchase any product I wanted on Amazon.
However, when I reached the checkout stage, I discovered that my gift card was not valid for the chair I wanted to buy, even though it was sold by Amazon and marked with the Amazon Prime label. At that point, I realized that the gift card could only be used for a very limited selection of products sold directly by Amazon, mostly in categories such as basic household or everyday consumer goods.
Because this restriction was not clearly and explicitly stated during the gift card conversion process, I felt misled. When I contacted Amazon customer service, the representative I spoke with acknowledged that my situation was justified. They asked me to keep the selected product in my cart and stated that I would be contacted within two days with a solution. I waited based on this assurance.
However, during this waiting period, the product ran out of stock and was removed from sale. When I contacted customer service again regarding the same issue, I was told that the previously mentioned solution was no longer possible. Even though I clearly explained that I had lost the product specifically because I was asked to wait, no concrete action was taken.
I was then told once again that I would be contacted, but no follow-up ever occurred, and no solution was offered. As a result, instead of using my miles for flights, I converted them into an Amazon gift card that I could not use for the product I originally wanted. While waiting based on customer service guidance, the product went out of stock, leaving me unable to use either the product or my miles in any meaningful way.
I believe I was clearly disadvantaged due to Amazon’s incomplete information and misleading guidance from customer service regarding my gift card with serial number 2640804401610354. I am requesting that my grievance be resolved, that my losses be compensated, and that I be provided with a clear and written explanation.
