I Paid Airbnb Listed Price but Was Overcharged Due to Unclear Currency Conversion
I booked a 2-night stay on Airbnb and was shown a final payment amount of exactly ₺13,682.12, which I also received as the official invoice total. However, when I checked my credit card statement, I noticed Airbnb had actually charged me ₺14,515.37—an unexplained difference of over ₺800.
I immediately contacted Airbnb Live Support to ask for clarification. Their only response was that the difference was due to currency exchange rates. But that makes no sense. I paid exactly the amount displayed to me in Turkish Lira, and my invoice clearly states that amount as the final charge. There was no mention or warning of any additional exchange fees or adjustments during checkout.
This discrepancy has caused both financial loss and frustration. If a company presents a price and issues an invoice accordingly, that should be the exact amount charged to my card. Airbnb should not be passing the risk of currency fluctuation or hidden processing fees onto the customer without transparency.
I request a full explanation and a refund of the overcharged difference immediately. This issue should also be investigated so that other users aren’t misled in the same way.
