I Got Misled by Airbnb Host Kaptan Saroz for Erikli Booking—Dates Marked Available Weren’t
I tried to book a house in Erikli via Airbnb for 5 nights starting July 26, but the experience was unbelievably frustrating. The host, listed under Kaptan Saroz Turizm, kept redirecting me to different listings by saying “that house is booked, but we have availability at this number instead.” I followed his suggestion and sent a request for the new listing—only for him to tell me that those dates weren’t actually available either.
I felt like I was being played around with. The availability shown on Airbnb was completely misleading. When I confronted him, he casually said, “We rent out the same homes on other platforms too, so it gets mixed up.” That’s not a valid excuse. If your calendar is outdated or inaccurate, don’t advertise it as available! What’s the point of using Airbnb’s date filters if hosts don’t update their listings properly?
This experience shook my trust not just in the host but in Airbnb’s entire platform. I’m incredibly disappointed and angry at both the host and Airbnb for allowing such carelessness. Please take action against this host and enforce stricter listing accuracy policies. Travelers deserve transparency—not bait-and-switch tactics.
