Temu Support Scam and Remote Phone Access Led to Account Compromise

1

I have been a Temu customer and previously did not have problems with my orders, but a few months ago, while trying to get a refund for an order, I experienced a very serious situation that has left me without access to any of my credit cards and still has not been resolved. During this period, I contacted Temu customer service by phone to request my refund. The person I spoke with claimed to be Temu customer support and said he was trying to refund my money to my card. He asked me many questions about my payment methods and said the refund was not going through, then started asking me to try different cards. While this was happening, he gained remote access to my phone, and I could actually see a cursor moving on my screen as he was “helping” me. He kept trying to get me to use PayPal and Cash App and asked about my bank accounts and credit accounts. I did not give him my account details directly, but he still kept insisting that the cards he was trying to refund “weren’t working” and that we needed to use other cards. At that point I realized something was very wrong. As a result of this call, my accounts were compromised. My credit cards are now all frozen, my credit is frozen, and I am unable to use any of my credit cards. I have been trying to get Temu to acknowledge what happened and to get real answers, but I have not received any meaningful help or solution. Instead, when I later tried again to get assistance, I was asked to put two dollars on a credit card to talk to a “computer specialist” which is impossible for me because my cards are frozen precisely due to this situation. This request felt completely unreasonable under the circumstances. On top of the hacking issue, I never received the car parts I was trying to order. I had a cart with parts I need to finish my car, including a front mount intercooler, all the piping and tubing for it, a blow-off tube that connects to a blow-off valve, a fuel pressure regulator with a gauge, as well as stereo components such as a subwoofer, an amplifier and a subwoofer box, a gauge panel with switches, jack stands and a hydraulic jack, and some other items I no longer clearly remember. When I look at my Temu account now, the original cart no longer exists. Instead, I see two different carts that contain other parts I do not need and did not put there. I do not know the exact order number, but I remember a customer or order number that begins with 91, and the items above are the parts I needed and never received. Because of what happened, I have already involved a lawyer, and a cyber investigation team will also be looking into this incident. I believe someone who presented themselves as Temu customer support used that position to gain access to my phone and compromise my accounts. If Temu does not take this seriously, the matter will continue legally regarding the hacking and the damage to my finances and credit. At this moment, what I am asking from Temu is very clear. I want Temu to allow me to recreate my cart with the car parts I originally selected, to review that cart, and to send me those parts so I can finally finish my car and have a working vehicle. If Temu is willing to cooperate, let me put those same items back into my cart, and then fulfill that order at no cost to me, I would consider this as Temu making amends toward me personally for this situation. I expect Temu to investigate this incident on their side, ensure that such fraudulent “support” activity cannot happen through their platform, and to respond to me in writing about how they will resolve my missing order and address this serious security issue.
