I booked a room on Airbnb and completed the payment successfully. However, right after paying, I was asked to complete mandatory ID verification. Unfortunately, I didn’t have my ID with me at that moment and couldn’t access it before the deadline. As a result, my reservation was automatically canceled — and Airbnb refused to refund my payment.
A few hours later (about 5 hours after the first attempt), I managed to get my ID, went back to the same listing, booked the same room again, and this time the reservation was accepted after successful ID verification. So now I’ve been charged twice for the same room, but Airbnb refuses to return the first payment.
This is extremely frustrating. I followed the process and complied with the verification request, but the system penalized me for a brief delay in submitting my ID. It’s completely unfair to keep my money for a canceled reservation that wasn’t even used — especially when I ended up booking the same place again.
I demand a full refund for the first payment, and Airbnb needs to stop penalizing users for minor delays in ID verification, especially when no service was provided. This is not how you treat paying customers.
