I Was Threatened and Forced Out of a Dirty Airbnb in Brussels Without Any Support

During our trip to Brussels, we rented an Airbnb and followed the address listed on the app—both the written details and the Google Maps link provided. When we arrived, we realized the address was incorrect. We contacted the host, who responded rudely and gave us the “correct” location, which was a 20-minute walk away.
When we finally entered the property, we were shocked by the condition of the place. Inside the coat closet, there was an open, half-eaten bag of chips, moldy bread, eggs, and even a woman’s clothing item left behind from a previous guest. The toilet was constantly running and made a loud, disruptive noise, and there were clumps of hair above the sink and fixtures.
When we reported these issues to the host, instead of apologizing or helping, he threatened us and said if we didn’t leave within an hour, he would come and forcibly remove us. We immediately reported everything to Airbnb’s emergency support team but received no help—hours passed, and no one contacted us.
To protect ourselves and avoid being left on the street, we had no choice but to book a hotel last minute at a much higher cost. Not only were we kicked out of a filthy and unsafe property, but we also lost the Airbnb fee and had to pay for emergency accommodations out of pocket.
