I Face an Unauthorized Academia.edu Subscription Charge on My Debit Card

I am writing regarding an unauthorized payment taken by Academia.edu from my İş Bankası debit card. About one to two years ago, I made only a one-time payment of 500 TL for a trial, and I did not approve or request any automatic renewal or premium membership after that.

Despite this, on 6 December 2025, 3000 TL was withdrawn from my card without my knowledge or consent as a subscription fee. At no stage did I approve any automatic payment, subscription, or premium membership, nor was I informed that the trial would convert into a paid subscription.

When I noticed the 3000 TL deduction, I emailed Academia.edu and requested a refund for the unauthorized charge. They responded to my email, but the money has still not been refunded to my account. I also contacted İş Bank regarding the cancellation and refund, but I have not received any outcome yet.

I request that the 3000 TL, which was taken from my İş Bankası debit card without my explicit consent or knowledge, be fully refunded and that any subscription or automatic payment linked to my account be cancelled. Additionally, I expect a clear explanation and an apology, along with assurance that such unauthorized charges will not occur again.
