Academia.edu Wrongfully Charged 3000₺ Without Consent After Trial
On 31/08/2025, Academia.edu withdrew 3000₺ from my account without my approval or prior notice. A few months ago, I had started a 30₺ Premium trial just to test the service. However, this new large charge was taken automatically, with no notification, no confirmation, and no added benefits to my membership.
I contacted customer service about this issue, but they told me that no refund would be issued. This is unacceptable since I never agreed to a recurring or annual payment at such a high amount. The transaction was processed under account number 1988/103481291-5004 with the authorization code 607143.
I demand that this 3000₺ unauthorized payment be refunded immediately and that my membership be reverted to free status. Customers should not be forced into expensive subscriptions through hidden auto-renewals. Academia.edu must take responsibility and provide transparent billing practices to prevent this kind of exploitation.
