I created a membership on Academia.edu using the free one-month trial. A few days ago, I canceled my subscription to ensure that no payment would be taken. However, on 27/08/2025, my bank card was still charged 3000₺ for a Premium membership.
This is not the first time I have faced such an issue with Academia.edu, which makes it even more frustrating. I had already canceled my subscription, and yet the system still billed me. I did not receive any confirmation email or warning screen about this renewal. My account is registered under s*******@gmail.com**, and I also have the receipt for the payment as proof.
I demand that the 3000₺ be refunded to my account immediately and that my membership be properly canceled once and for all. It is unacceptable for a platform to charge users after cancellation. Academia.edu must fix this issue and stop unauthorized renewals that cause unnecessary financial loss.
