Academia.edu Charged My Card Without Permission
On November 26 at 17:08, a charge of $88 was taken from my card by Academia.edu without my knowledge or consent. I received no notification about this transaction, and I did not purchase or intentionally approve any membership of any kind.
I am a student living on a scholarship in a dormitory. This amount directly affects my monthly living expenses. My entire scholarship has essentially been taken, and I am now genuinely unsure how I will manage financially. I have been seriously harmed by this situation.
After the charge occurred, I contacted my bank to request a cancellation, but I was told the payment could not be refunded. I then attempted to reach Academia.edu, but the system displayed my email address incorrectly and did not allow me to submit a support request.
I did not authorize this transaction, and I strongly believe this money was taken unfairly. I request a full refund of the $88 charged to my card as soon as possible, as well as the cancellation of any paid memberships that may have been assigned to my account without my consent. Otherwise, I am considering taking legal action and sharing my experience publicly on all relevant platforms.
