I've been a loyal Garanti Bankası customer for years, but this experience is beyond frustrating. On Monday at around 5 AM, I woke up to my baby crying and checked my phone—only to find a message from the bank at 4 AM. My credit card had been charged €242.14 by a company called Vimeo, a service I have never used or signed up for. The bank flagged it as a suspicious transaction, and I immediately called to cancel my card. However, my credit card balance dropped to -₺2599, putting me in debt for an unauthorized transaction!
I went to the bank that same day to file a dispute, expecting a quick resolution. Instead, I received a shocking SMS: Since my credit card was in the negative, I would be charged ₺1.36 in daily interest! How is this even acceptable? My card was clearly compromised due to a security breach, and instead of taking responsibility, Garanti Bankası is charging me interest on a fraudulent charge!
To make matters worse, since I had to request a new card, the old one no longer appears in my online banking app. If I wanted to pay the fraudulent balance just to avoid further interest, I would have to physically visit the bank—an impossible task with a small baby and no one to leave them with. Still, I somehow managed to go and clear the balance, yet two days later, no one from the bank has followed up, let alone refunded my money.
How can a major bank ignore a customer who has clearly stated that they did not authorize this transaction? Vimeo is a company I have never used, never entered my card details into, and never even heard of before this charge. This needs to be resolved immediately—I demand my money back!
