Unable to Board Flight Due to Turkish Airlines System Error
On July 9, 2023, I had a flight with Turkish Airlines at 07:40 to Bodrum. I arrived at the airport more than an hour in advance. When I tried to check-in, the machine did not allow me due to a system error. Then, I queued at the counter to get my ticket and check-in my luggage. When it was my turn, the system shut down, and they told me they couldn't issue a ticket and directed me to another department for the issue. The staff there redirected me to yet another place. I lost additional time due to these processes. Finally, I was directed to another counter. The staff there saw the time I tried to check-in and mentioned that sometimes such issues occur due to system problems. They offered me another flight to Bodrum later in the evening around 21:00 as the error was on their end. I declined because I had a Bodrum-Datca ferry scheduled for 17:00 and a hotel reservation with check-in at 14:00 on the same day. Since I missed my flight, I also missed my ferry. They issued a ticket to Izmir instead. I managed to reach Datca from Izmir on my own. However, I suffered both financially and emotionally. I am complaining about the irresponsibility of Turkish Airlines.
