Turkish Airlines Ticket Issue and Lack of Assistance
We experienced a significant issue at Antalya Airport when trying to check in for our previously purchased tickets. Two and a half hours before our flight, we were informed that a photo was required on the ID of my 8-year-old grandchild. Why were we allowed to purchase the ticket without this requirement being highlighted? Despite our thorough research, this was never mentioned. We were just two hours away from our flight to Baku, and my son had to turn back from Alanya to take my grandchild. My husband and I, aged 76 and 68 respectively, managed to get our tickets. At the passport control, we were told we needed a stamp, which my husband, who has diabetes and heart disease, had to run to get. After that, we were asked for an exit form without a passport. No one helped us find the gate for Baku. We were told to look at the illuminated signs, but by the time we reached the gate, it had just closed. We felt extremely distressed. We received no assistance and were told that our return tickets were also void. We were advised to buy new tickets and that we could use the return tickets if we managed to go. The solution they offered was to spend another ₺30,000. This was supposed to be our first trip abroad to visit my daughter, but all our joy and dreams were shattered. We fell ill from the stress and still can't believe what happened. The image of my grandchild's crying face haunts me. Who will hear our plight? I appeal to those who left us helpless in our own country, please address our grievance.
