Turkish Airlines System Error Issue
Round 1: My Turkish Airlines flight from Istanbul to Bodrum on October 27, 2023, was canceled due to 'operational reasons'. They rebooked us on a flight 1.5 hours later, which also took off with a 1.5-hour delay while we were on the plane. We tolerated this as one of the usual 'departure queue' delays at Istanbul airport.
Round 2: Three days later, while trying to check-in for my return flight via my phone, the Turkish Airlines website informed me that 'Your flight has been changed due to operational reasons' and offered options to 'change flight' or 'cancel flight'. I couldn't change the flight as there were no other flights available. Since I couldn't stay in Bodrum, I contacted Turkish Airlines to resolve the issue with a customer representative.
Round 3: After navigating through irrelevant and confusing menus, I finally reached a customer representative. After considerable effort, they found out that there was probably no change in my return flight, but there was a 'system error'. The system couldn't access my return flight due to changes in the initial flight, and I couldn't check in online. Due to another system error, I couldn't check-in via phone either and was advised to go to the airport at the flight time to see the situation.
Can Turkish Airlines finally resolve these 'operational reason cancellations and changes' and 'system error' issues? Providing proper service to its citizens on domestic flights should be more important than trying to operate flights to the most destinations in the world.
