Turkish Airlines Rescheduled Istanbul-Ordu Flight Without Notice


On January 10, 2024, the 18:35 THY flight from Istanbul to Ordu was rescheduled 10 minutes earlier without any announcement, notification, or display on the screens. Unaware of this change, the check-in staff informed me that I needed to run as the gate would close in 15 minutes. As you know, it is nearly impossible to run from the check-in area to gate G3-H at Istanbul Airport in 15 minutes. I tried my best to make it, even almost collapsing at one point. When I finally reached the gate, I shared my thoughts about the situation with the staff, who responded with 'Submit your complaint, sorry.' The reason given was weather conditions. However, after speaking with another passenger, I learned that my seat number had been changed from around 35 to the 20s and that the aircraft size was reduced because THY couldn't sell enough tickets. This arbitrary and commercial reason being covered up with a lie about weather conditions is very unprofessional. Despite the plane being downsized, the back seats were still empty. I am sharing this complaint to highlight the poor quality and lack of empathy from this company, despite their seemingly friendly demeanor. To the authorities: I hope you never have to run to catch an important flight and risk a heart attack like I did.
