On August 22, 2024, I locked in a price of ₺25,712.21 for a round-trip ticket from Istanbul to Milan using 3,000 miles through the Turkish Airlines app. The next day, before purchasing the ticket, I checked the prices again and saw that the same ticket was now being sold for ₺21,520.79. However, I couldn’t make any changes to the price-locked ticket through the app, so I called customer service.
The representative informed me that Turkish Airlines' prices fluctuate constantly and that no changes could be made to locked tickets. They said I didn’t have to purchase the ticket, but if I chose not to, I would lose the 3,000 miles I had used to lock the price. When I expressed my concern and asked for assistance, I was told that they had no authority to make any changes and that I could provide feedback through their website.
I ended up purchasing the ticket at the lower price and submitted feedback, including screenshots. Unfortunately, the automatic response I received did not address my issue. If the price had increased, I would have been happy to have locked it in, but I believe Turkish Airlines should take proactive steps when prices drop significantly for locked tickets. At the very least, customers should be given the option to modify or cancel their reservations in these situations.
The price difference between the two tickets was ₺4,191.42—a significant amount that could easily cover another round-trip ticket. I urge Turkish Airlines to consider this issue seriously and request the immediate refund of the 3,000 miles that were unfairly deducted from my account.
