Turkish Airlines Deleted My Daughter's Ticket and Caused Us to Miss Our Flight to Oulu
On August 25, while traveling from Erzurum to Oulu (Finland) as a family (2 adults, a child, and a baby), my daughter's ticket (ticket number 2352233283972) was not accepted for the flight between Helsinki and Oulu. Finnair couldn’t find the ticket associated with that number, and we couldn’t board the flight as a family. Finnair instructed us to contact Turkish Airlines and ask them to issue a new ticket number, but despite repeated calls to Turkish Airlines customer service, the issue wasn’t resolved. We experienced significant inconvenience. When we were denied boarding, we had to purchase tickets for the next flight (€391) and pay an extra fee for our luggage (€120). We stayed at the airport for hours and went through a lot of stress.
Details: I was traveling to Oulu on a scholarship. The institution sponsoring the scholarship covered the tickets for me, my wife, and my child, which we bought through an agency. I personally purchased a roundtrip ticket for my daughter (under 2 years old) on August 20, 2024, at the Turkish Airlines sales office at Esenboğa Airport, paying ₺3738 for the outbound flight (Ticket Number: 2352233283972) and ₺21549.36 for the return flight (Ticket Number: 2352233283971). To avoid any issues, I visited Turkish Airlines at Erzurum Airport on August 24 and received confirmation that everything was in order. However, when it was time to check in, I couldn’t check in my daughter using the ticket numbers. After several calls to customer service, they assured me there were no issues and said we could check in once we arrived in Finland. All of these conversations can be verified through my calls to Turkish Airlines customer service at 544554****.
Once in Helsinki, we tried to check in with my daughter, but the officials told us there was an error with the ticket number, and no such ticket existed. They advised us to contact Turkish Airlines to resolve the issue, but despite our relatives in Turkey calling customer service, the situation wasn’t fixed. Customer service even confirmed that the ticket had somehow been deleted. As a result, we couldn’t board the flight because my daughter was not allowed on it. We reported the issue to Turkish Airlines, but they oddly directed us back to Finnair. I bought the ticket from Turkish Airlines and made the payment to them, so I expect my issue to be resolved.
