Turkish Airlines Customer Service Provided Incorrect Information

I contacted Turkish Airlines customer service to make a reservation for my pet in the cargo section for my Adana-Istanbul flight. Before purchasing my ticket, I wanted to check if there was space available for my dog in the cargo section.
The lady at customer service informed me that she couldn't check the availability for my dog without me first purchasing my ticket. When I asked what would happen if there was no space for my dog after I bought my ticket, she assured me that there wouldn't be an issue with the cargo section and that if there was, I would need to pay to change my ticket.
Trusting her statement that it was a requirement, I purchased my ticket over the phone without checking for availability and then made the reservation for my dog based on her information. I also bought my return ticket without checking for pet space because she had told me it couldn't be checked without a ticket.
After purchasing my return ticket, I called customer service again to make the pet reservation. Another lady made the reservation, but the email I received stated that the reservation could not be completed. When I called customer service again, the gentleman I spoke with told me that I had been given incorrect information. He explained that they could check for pet space availability even without a passenger ticket, allowing me to purchase my ticket based on the availability for my pet.
As a result of the incorrect information provided by the first customer service lady, I was unable to make the reservation for my dog and had to pay extra to change my passenger ticket.
