Turkish Airlines Connecting Flight Delay and Poor Customer Service
On August 2, 2023, my flight TK0695 from Cairo to Istanbul experienced a one-and-a-half-hour delay. As a result, I was at passport control just 10 minutes before my connecting flight TK2030 from Istanbul to Konya, scheduled for 1:30 AM. A security officer informed me that boarding had ended and advised me to contact the Transfer Desk. The representative at the Transfer Desk rescheduled my flight to the next available one at 6:35 AM. When I asked for a place to rest, I was directed to the THY Domestic Lounge. However, upon arrival, the staff member there was extremely unhelpful and rude, refusing me entry. After persistent inquiries, I was told that I was entitled to a hotel stay but it was too late for that option. (I handed my business class ticket to him, but he said it showed a red light error and denied me entry. When I explained my situation, his response was: 'This is a paid service, how do you expect to enter?') After being redirected to various places, it was already 3:00 AM. Except for the lady at the Domestic Transfer Desk, all THY staff I encountered were indifferent, rude, and unhelpful. This complaint is due to not only the unresolved inconvenience but also the poor treatment we received. It is incomprehensible that THY, which claims to be customer satisfaction-oriented, cannot provide a quiet place for passengers to rest after being forced to wait at the airport for 5 hours due to their own mistake.
