On 22/02/24, I purchased a ticket for flight TK7316 from SAW to GNY scheduled for 07/04/24. I canceled this flight using the free cancellation option and requested the refund to be transferred to my TK Wallet. I chose the TK Wallet option because I frequently travel by air and wanted to use the balance for my next trip.
When the refund was credited to my TK Wallet, I attempted to book another ticket from the same airport and airline using the TK Wallet, only to find out that this is not possible. The reason given was that tickets for Ajet flights cannot be purchased using the TK Wallet, although refunds from Ajet flights can be credited to the TK Wallet?!
To resolve this absurd situation, I contacted the THY call center, but this was of no help. I live close to SAW. Why should I have to go to a different airport to use my refund for a round-trip ticket from SAW?
I did not expect Turkish Airlines, a company I took pride in and recommended to my foreign friends, to be unable to resolve such a simple logical issue and inconvenience its customers. I was mistaken.
Instead of a refund, I will now have to think twice before choosing and recommending Turkish Airlines.
