Issue with Turkish Airlines Ticket Refund for Istanbul-Kisinev Flight
I purchased a round-trip ticket from Turkish Airlines for Istanbul-Kisinev on December 8 and Kisinev-Istanbul on December 11. I was planning to visit Moldova as a tourist. According to the official website of the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, no visa is required for tourist trips under 90 days, and travel can be done with an ID card. I traveled with my passport, which has multiple entries and exits to various European countries. I am a frequent traveler. After purchasing the ticket, I received information that Turkish citizens were being denied entry at Kisinev Airport and were being sent back. I contacted tour companies, and they all confirmed this situation, stating they do not organize tours to Moldova. Similarly, Air Moldova also confirmed this information and mentioned that I would most likely be sent back. I explained the situation to Turkish Airlines, stating that this was an unavoidable force majeure and requested to cancel my ticket and get a refund.
However, they refused to refund my money. To avoid wasting my money, I brought all necessary documents (round-trip flight ticket, hotel reservation, health insurance, a letter from my workplace, and bank statements) with me. Despite this, without any reason and without checking my documents, I was sent back to Istanbul on the same day along with many other Turkish citizens. As a result, both my money and time were wasted. An unnecessary stamp was placed in my passport indicating that I was sent back, which might cause issues for my entry into other countries. I suffered both financially and emotionally. I am complaining because Turkish Airlines continues to sell tickets to people without any warning, despite being aware of this situation. I request a refund for my round-trip ticket.
