Turkish Airlines Gave Incorrect Info on Pet Travel to Moldova, Ruined My Plans

On June 21, 2024, I visited the Turkish Airlines (THY) office at Istanbul Airport to get information about the necessary documents for traveling with my dog and to see off my children. The staff at the THY office directed me to gate G18-19 and mentioned that I could get all the required information there.

At gate G19, I asked the gentleman on duty about the necessary documents for traveling with my dog. He informed me that for Moldova, only a passport, all vaccinations, and documents approved by the Ministry of Agriculture would be sufficient. I specifically asked if a titration test was required, and despite asking twice, he assured me that it was not necessary.

Based on this information, I purchased my ticket. However, before buying the ticket, I visited the Ministry of Agriculture to get information about the procedures for traveling to Moldova with a dog. The Ministry officials stated that the titration test would not be required for Moldova until January 1, 2025, and informed me about the necessary documents. Based on this information, I booked my flight for July 3, 2024, and received approval from the Ministry of Agriculture on July 1, 2024.

However, on the day of the flight, I was informed that we could not board the plane. Despite having all my documents ready and approved as previously informed, the lady at gate G19 stated that a titration test was required for Moldova and that I needed to reschedule my flight.

This situation caused me significant time loss and unnecessary stress. Due to the incorrect information provided by THY staff, my travel plans faced serious disruptions. I believe THY should provide accurate and up-to-date information to its passengers.

I request a thorough investigation into this matter and compensation for the financial and emotional distress I experienced. I also urge THY to take the necessary measures to prevent similar situations in the future. Additionally, I expect a response to address the inconvenience I have faced.
