Storks Diamond Ring Develops Defect and Loses Significant Value
On March 4, 2026, I purchased a diamond ring for my wife from the Storks Diamond store at Ankara Cepa AVM for approximately $5,550. The ring was a Tria model consisting of two interlocking pieces. Although my wife did not wear the ring very often, the outer band detached from its connection point and fell off after a short period of time. If my wife had not noticed it, we could have suffered a significant financial loss, and the remaining piece would also have lost its meaning and value as a complete ring.
We took the ring to the store and requested that it be repaired. At the same time, because my wife had lost confidence in the model due to this issue, we asked whether it would be possible to exchange it for a different model and requested that the ring be revalued. The ring was sent to Istanbul, and afterward, representatives contacted us by phone and informed us that they had valued the ring at approximately $1,960. Since this amount was extremely low compared with the approximately $5,550 we had paid for the ring only a few months earlier, we declined the offer and requested that the ring simply be repaired.
On August 31, 2026, I went to the Cepa Storks store to pick up the ring. However, I noticed that the connection and movement issues with the ring had not been fully resolved. I also asked how the value of a ring we had purchased for approximately $5,550 only a few months earlier could have fallen to approximately $1,960. I was told that this was simply how the market worked and that there was nothing they could do regarding the price. No information was provided at the time of purchase about the possibility of such a significant loss in value. If I had known that I could experience such a substantial loss, I would absolutely not have made this purchase.
I feel seriously aggrieved both because the product developed a technical problem within a short period of time and because of the extremely significant loss in its stated value. My primary request is for the ring to be exchanged for another product at a reasonable value, taking into account the amount I paid and the short period of use. If this is not possible, I request that the ring be returned or that its value be reassessed in a fair and reasonable manner that properly addresses the loss I have experienced.
I also ask that my experience be taken into consideration and that the necessary measures be taken to prevent other customers from experiencing similar problems.
